Website Design for Therapists and Private Practices

People look for a therapist at hard moments, often on a phone late at night, and decide in a few minutes whether a practice feels safe. We design calm, clear websites that answer their real questions and make the first call easy.

A fixed quote before any work begins. Prefer to talk? Book a call.

A therapy website has to feel safe before the first call

Someone looking for a therapist is often anxious, tired or in the middle of something hard. They are not comparing features. They are asking whether this person, and this practice, feels safe enough to call. Your website answers that in the first few seconds, mostly through tone: calm design, plain words and real people instead of stock photos of a couch.

Then it has to be practical. A visitor wants to know who they would see, what kind of therapy you offer, what it costs and how to take the first step. We design the site around those questions, connect it to the practice platform you already use, and build it so the people searching for your specialty can find you. We are a design and technology studio in Asheville, North Carolina, and we work with practices anywhere.

What a therapy practice website needs

Six things we build into every practice site, whether you work alone or run a group practice with several clinicians.

Plain answers to the real questions.

Who would I see? What kind of therapy is this, and what will it feel like? What does it cost, and do you take my insurance? Each one gets an honest answer in everyday words.

Booking and intake in your practice platform.

We link or embed the client portal, booking and intake forms of the platform you already use, such as SimplePractice, TherapyNotes or Jane, so nothing clinical passes through the website.

Calm on a phone at night.

Most people look for a therapist on their phone. The promise, the approach and the free consultation stack into one readable column, with the next step a tap away.

Clinicians who read like people.

Real photos and bios that say who each clinician helps and how they work, so a visitor can picture the first session before they call.

Found for the searches clients make.

Pages for each specialty and approach, such as EMDR, couples or anxiety therapy, plus your Google Business Profile, so you show up when someone nearby looks for help.

Accessible to everyone who needs you.

Built to WCAG 2.1 AA: real contrast, keyboard navigation, readable type and screen reader support. A practice that helps people should not have a door some of them cannot open.

A template or a custom site?

We will tell you if you do not need us. If you are a solo clinician just starting out, the website that comes with your practice platform, or a template made for therapists, can be enough for now. It is quick, and it puts your name and a booking link online.

A custom site earns its cost when the template starts to hold you back: you have several clinicians or locations, you run groups or trainings for other clinicians, you want to rank for your specialty in Google, or you want the site to feel like your practice instead of a hundred others built from the same theme. That is the work we do. Already have a site that needs a refresh? See our website redesign service.

What a therapy practice website costs

With online booking, a custom site for a solo or small group practice estimates at $4,750 to $6,750 for 1 to 5 pages, and $6,250 to $9,250 for 6 to 12 pages, for example a page per clinician and per specialty. Copywriting, a client login or a second language add to that. You get a fixed quote before any work starts, so the number you approve is the number you pay. Care plans after launch start at $255/mo.

The fastest way to a number is the website cost calculator. It opens with what most practices need. Change anything, then send the estimate to us and book a kickoff call. See all of our published prices.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a website for a therapy practice cost?

A custom site for a solo or small group practice with online booking usually estimates at $4,750 to $6,750 for 1 to 5 pages, and $6,250 to $9,250 for 6 to 12 pages. Copywriting, a client login or a second language add to that. You get a fixed quote before any work starts, and the website cost calculator on this page gives you a range in about a minute. Optional care plans after launch start at $255/mo.

Does my therapy website need to be HIPAA compliant?

Your website itself usually should not hold any health information, and the simplest way to keep it that way is to keep clinical details off it. We link or embed the intake, booking and messaging tools of the practice platform you already use and sign an agreement with, such as SimplePractice, TherapyNotes or Jane, and keep the website contact form to a name, an email and a short note. This is not legal advice, so check your own obligations with your platform or an advisor.

Can my site work with SimplePractice, Jane or TherapyNotes?

Yes. We link to or embed your platform’s client portal, booking widget and intake forms, so new clients book and fill in paperwork in the system you already run your practice on, and nothing clinical passes through the website.

Do I need a website if I already have a Psychology Today profile?

A directory profile is a good start, but it lists you next to dozens of other clinicians and you do not control it. Your own site is where you can explain how you work, show who you are, answer cost and insurance questions, and show up in Google for the searches people make, such as an EMDR or couples therapist near them. Most practices do best with both, each linking to the other.

Should I use a therapist website template instead?

Sometimes, yes. If you are a solo clinician just starting out, a template from your practice platform or a builder made for therapists can be enough, and we will tell you so. A custom site makes sense when you have several clinicians or locations, run trainings or groups, need to rank in search, or want the site to feel like your practice rather than everyone else’s.

How long does a therapy practice website take?

Most practice sites take from a few weeks to a couple of months from kickoff to launch. It depends on the number of pages, how custom the design is, and how ready your bios and service descriptions are. We plan the schedule with you at kickoff, so you know the launch date before work starts.

We’re Listening.

Tell us about your project and we will come back with a real number. Or book a call and talk it through.
