Free Drupal version checker
Enter any address to see whether it runs Drupal, and whether it is Drupal 7 (out of security support since January 5, 2025) or a newer version, plus its theme and hosting.

One page, six areas, about ten seconds. Every finding is a fact read from the site itself, explained in plain English.
WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Drupal and more, with the version when the site shows it.
The theme or template, plus builders like Elementor or Divi and the plugins visible in the page.
Cloudflare, WP Engine, Kinsta, Vercel and others, plus analytics, ads, chat and payment tools.
Title, description, headings, structured data, sitemap and whether Google may list the page.
Image descriptions, page language and overlay widgets that do not make a site compliant.
Google PageSpeed for phones, with how long the main content takes to show.
You can check by hand too. These are the same signs the checker looks for.
Files load from /sites/default/files/ or /sites/all/.
Drupal 7 pages include Drupal.settings and /misc/drupal.js in the code.
Drupal 8 and newer use drupalSettings instead, and often send an X-Generator header with the version.
Many sites keep a generator tag such as "Drupal 7 (https://www.drupal.org)."
Free website audit
The checker reads one page. In a free audit I go through your whole site and tell you, in plain English, what is costing you customers and what to fix first. No cost, no obligation, and you keep the plan whoever does the work.
Book my free auditSince January 5, 2025, the Drupal project no longer releases security fixes for Drupal 7. New holes found in core or modules stay open unless someone pays for extended support.
Drupal 7 sites can’t simply update to Drupal 10 or 11. Content and design have to be migrated, so it pays to plan before something breaks.
Still on Drupal 7? See our Drupal migration services.
It gets riskier every month. There are no official security fixes, and many hosts are dropping support for the old PHP versions it needs.
Not by updating in place. It is a migration: content moves over, the theme is rebuilt, and modules are replaced. Some sites move to WordPress or a simpler platform instead.
Drupal 8, 9, 10 and 11 share the same signs in the page code. Many sites hide the exact version for security, which is good practice.
Each one runs the same check, with notes for that platform. Thinking about a new site? Try the website cost calculator.
